Empowering the
Future: Education
for Every Child

As a fundamental human right, education and gender equality are crucial to a nation’s sustainable future and development. However, many developing nations struggle with dismal literacy rates due to poverty and cultural hurdles. Vulnerable groups, including girls and children with disabilities, struggle more to get the education they deserve. Girl Power USA is committed to finding solutions for a sustainable impact on these children’s futures by providing financial and emotional support.

Our approach includes developing soft and interpersonal skills to help these children reach their full potential.

Girl Power USA’s comprehensive approach combines emotional support and financial assistance. We mentor the beneficiaries of our financial aid to also develop interpersonal and technical skills to help them achieve long-term success. We aim to ultimately break the cycle of poverty through education advocacy.

Good Luck

Hurdles In The Way

  • In India, high-quality and affordable education options continue to be a distant dream for underprivileged families.

India has over 1 million children who opt out of school, with female literacy rates seeing a 20% gap. This issue only further emphasizes the importance of women’s education to create a sustainable future for the region and communities involved.

  • In Nigeria, millions of students lack access to quality education, with many opting out before they complete primary school.

Nigeria has an education system that is unevenly dispersed, making it difficult for students to focus on their education. They would usually prefer to make an early entrance to unsustainable careers to support their families financially. This also creates an unstable living environment for many children, which can also keep them from school.

  • Poverty, insecurity, and cultural aspects frequently hinder girls and children from attending school for their needs of an education.

The many added expenses for school uniforms, textbooks, tests, and scholastic items make admission costly. This is because most parents in rural regions struggle to make ends meet for even the most basic necessities.

  • Period poverty, external forces, and cultural views can cause children and girls to miss out on school.

Many external forces can keep these children from attending school. Due to period poverty, some girls have to miss school due to a lack of hygiene products, sex education, and the isolation they face during their periods.

What We Have Achieved So Far

Since we started the initiative to empower the future of children across Nigeria and India, we have provided 104 scholarships and school supplies to vulnerable children in Nigeria. These supplies include books, uniforms, writing materials, and basic hygiene kits as well as sanitary pads for the girls. These supplies serve to make education accessible for all.

Girl Power USA has also retained 20+ students in India via Umeed—our in-office school—all of whom hail from a variety of backgrounds and marginalized communities.

In Uganda, Girl Power USA supported 200 girls from The Eco Warriors team, providing them with resources such as football gear and running shoes. This helps them be better engaged in school and continue their passion for sports while raising awareness for climate action in the region.
